A healthy workforce is one of the ingredients for a healthy business.
Workplace wellness programs can include a variety of wellness strategies. Here at MoboTrex, we’ve embarked on a good-natured weight-loss challenge for employees who are willing to participate.
And while good health can be its own reward, it doesn’t hurt to include another little incentive. Company-wide, the grand prize for this challenge is a $250 gift certificate. But that’s not all. Our individual locations will have their own prizes, so we have smaller contests within the big contest.
We believe that if we take care of each other, then we don’t have too many distractions and we’ll naturally take care of our customers – and if we take care of our customers, the financial results will follow.
Our goal is to conduct a results-based wellness program, and our insurance provider, PDCM, helped us kick that off.
This fits in with our leadership team’s philosophy: we’re a people-first culture. We believe that if we take care of each other, then we don’t have too many distractions and we’ll naturally take care of our customers – and if we take care of our customers, the financial results will follow.
Challenge participants had an initial weigh-in. The percentage of bodyweight lost for each participant will be calculated at the end of the challenge.
PDCM will make some presentations at our quarterly meetings for updates. They’ve done this a lot in the past, so we have a lot of trust in them that they’re going to give us a lot of things to think about along the way – a lot of tips and healthy strategies.
That could come in the form of healthy recipes, stretching and exercise tips, behavioral strategies and more. The challenge started June 1 and will run for 10 weeks.
Wellness is all about taking care of each other and ourselves.
MoboTrex has employed other fun wellness activities in the past. Last year, each MoboTrex location competed against each other by racing to other locations via “steps.”
A couple of our people have worked at other places that got involved in weight-loss challenges and they’ve seen them do some good things. I’m enjoying the friendly competition. Wellness is all about taking care of each other and ourselves.
