FHWA Rescinds Buy America Waiver

On January 14th, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) rescinded the Manufactured Products General Waiver for Buy America requirements that had been in place since 1983.

The new rule will be effective on March 17th, 2025 and will be rolled out in two phases:

1. For Federal aid projects obligated on or after October 1st, 2025: Manufactured products must be assembled in the U.S., but do not need to meet the 55% requirement.

2. For Federal aid products obligated on or after October 1st, 2026: Manufactured products must be assembled in the U.S. and meet the 55% requirement.

MoboTrex Impact on Buy America Waiver Ruling

As of right now, every Eagle product manufactured by MoboTrex complies with the new requirements that are in place until October 1st, 2026.

MoboTrex has two product lines that will need some work to bring them into compliance for the October 2026 guidelines, but we have time to make that happen and will work to make them compliant.

The link below will take you to a letter detailing the impact to MoboTrex along with a list of compliant Eagle products.
