Midwest Sales Manager

 

MoboTrex is currently seeking a dynamic professional to fill the role of our Midwest Sales Manager. Based in our Davenport Iowa headquarters this role will direct and oversee the Midwest distribution sales team toward its primary objectives, based on growth and profit, by performing the following duties personally and through subordinate sales professionals.  Direct reports include (4) RSM’s and (3) Inside Sales Representatives who manage sales in seven Midwestern states.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Grow the business. Develop and implement strategic sales action plans such that the business unit achieves revenue growth and profit goals in established territories. This is to be accomplished by the sale, training and support of MoboTrex products and subsequent account management.

Build high performing teams.  Attract, hire, develop and train high performing inside and outside sales professionals.  Set and measure performance expectations for all positions and for the business unit as a whole.  Replace and upgrade talent as needed.  Build a solid bench of successors in key roles.

Model technical knowledge.  Establish product and process knowledge equal to our in-house product and traffic engineers. Establish norms whereby sales professionals hold themselves accountable for understanding the problems for which our customers are seeking solutions. Participate in industry and trade association events as the company liaison/ambassador.

Build a vision. Enhance and communicate the strategic vision and brand promise to be mobility and traffic experts.  Cultivate thriving business relationships with end users and key suppliers.

Oversee execution.  Understand the cost structure and transactional flow of the business, customer demands and closely follow the numbers including: bookings, shipments, delivery performance, pricing, quality, past due orders, backlog and profitability.  Proactively disseminate sales KPI’s to ensure understanding and accountability.  Ensure the sales team uses best practices in project management and RFP/proposal development.

Customer leadership. Cultivate and maintain relationships with key customers at multiple levels such that the organization understands and delivers current needs.  Leverage a deep understanding of customer needs and market drivers to help reinvent the organization’s value proposition as customer needs change. Drive the specification of core traffic products as well as increase the sale of peripheral products.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering or business from an accredited university.  5+ years of experience in the transportation industry or a closely related field.  Experience with signalized intersections, complex project management and responding to RFP’s are desired.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the employee may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.

The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and ability to adjust focus. The position expectations are to be in the office Monday and Friday and in the field making visits Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Occasional travel outside the Midwest territory is required.
